LED Light Therapy
What is it?
LED is an acronym for Light Emitting Diode. When this light is set at a certain wavelength it can be used therapeutically in skin rejuvenation, skin conditions (such as acne and psoriasis) and healing.
Unlike other rejuvenation mechanisms such as IPL and laser, LED phototherapy does not involve any direct contact with the skin and does not use any heat to deliver the treatment. It is therefore very safe to use on all skin types and all skin conditions, with no recovery time. Our LED light can be set at specific wavelengths (3 different wavelength including red, blue and infra-red, alone or combined) for skin rejuvenation, inflammation reduction and to promote healing. It can also be used to treat acne. When treating for skin rejuvenation, we use the red LED light and aim for treatments to be done every 1 to 4 weeks. The treatment can be combined with facial microdermabrasion, skin peels and Dermapen treatments. When treating acne, we use both the blue and red LED light and treatments should be twice a week for 8 weeks and then once a week for 4 weeks. This regime will help to reduce the bacteria and inflammation which in turn reduces the active acne lesions. The LED can also be used post-surgical procedures to help promote healing.
