IPL Skin Rejuvenation/
Hair Reduction
What is IPL?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a technology used in hair removal and photo-rejuvenation. IPL is performed through a hand piece which delivers an ‘intense’, visible, broad spectrum pulsed light. The IPL machine uses heat and light to target specific structures and chromophores (whether it is melanin in hair or oxyhemoglobin in blood vessels). The clinician will set the machine to the appropriate wavelength – or filter – that will target the condition.
IPL works by heating up the areas of the skin that have aquired pigmentations over time. Once these cells are heated up they will diminsh and get absorbed back into the body, giving you a more even tone and texture.
Skin Rejuvenation
Offering younger looking and glowing skin, IPL Skin Rejuvenation treatments stimulates the body’s ability to create renew skin cells to achieve improved overall appearance and quality of the tissue. This non-invasive anti-aging treatment induces cell renewal of the dermal and epidermal skin layers to prompt the body to shed the dull, aged appearance.
Acne
Have you tried over the counter medication, chemical peels, facials and sometimes even injections with no success in clearing your acne? Then you might want to try IPL either in conjunction with other treatments or by itself.
IPL’s broad spectrum of lights works by pentrating deep into multiple layers of the skin to target bacteria, reducing active acne as well as correcting superficial blemishes and redness. Furthermore t
Pigmentation
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) for pigmentation correction effectively fades and removes age spots, sun spots and discolouration to greatly improve overall skin tone, texture and radiance. IPL Skin Pigmentation treatments work by transmitting heat from the IPL light through to the pigmented skin areas. The IPL technology is attracted to dark pigmentation, effectively drawing the discolouration to the surface of the skin, allowing the dermis to begin the healing process of correcting the blemishes.
Vascular Lesions
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) for Vascular can be used to effectively treat broken capillaries, spider veins, red spots, cherry angiomas and rosacea. The IPL treatment works by blasting damaged vessels back into the bloodstream, allowing the body to reabsorb these vessels a few days after treatment.
Hair Reduction
IPL Hair Removal treatment provides safe, non-invasive treatment that will permanently reduce your hair growth, resulting in smooth, beautiful skin. Effective on black, brown and red hair, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology targets the hair follicles and damages the re-growth potential of the follicle – all without damaging the surrounding tissue.

FAQ
How does IPL hair removal work and how many treatments do I need?
A course of IPL treatments can significantly reduce hair growth. The ideal candidate to obtain the best results would have darker, course hair and a fair complexion. During the treatment, the hand piece is held against the skin and the pulses of light are delivered at a setting that targets melanin. The bulb of the hair follicle is where the most melanin is located, so this is where the light is absorbed. The bulb and hair shaft are heated to a point which destroys the hair-producing papilla. Generally, clients will require 6-8 treatments and these treatments are conducted 4-6 weeks apart. The treatments will not totally eliminate all hair in the area treated.
What is the difference between IPL and laser hair removal?
IPL treatment utilises a broad-spectrum light in comparison to laser hair removal which produces a single wavelength, specifically targeting hair follicles. So, although IPL hair removal is effective in removing hair it will take a few more sessions than laser hair removal in eliminating hair. Due to the broad range of light emitted by IPL hair removal, it is more comfortable than laser hair removal, making it a better option for those with sensitive skin.
Do I need to do any preparation prior to my IPL hair removal appointment?
Yes, this treatment is most effective on freshly shaven skin which is free from sunburn, rash or other inflammation. So, it is best that you shave the treatment area on the day of treatment prior to your appointment.
Can IPL therapy be used in conjunction with other treatments?
The IPL can be combined with other cosmetic treatments and we can discuss your options and develop your treatment plan during your consultation.
